Hello all! I am checking in to let you know how my fast is progressing so far! I am almost halfway though week 2 which is my week of juicing but it did not start off smooth. It was a bit more challenging than I thought to go from fasting with water to fasting with fresh juice. My tummy was not happy, even though there was little to no pulp in my juice there was still some amount of digestion that needed to happen to process the juice. I think next time I will start with single ingredient juices first instead of full blown 5 ingredient juice combos LBVS! Today I have had one juice so far and I am feeling really good, Yaaaay!! I will post recipes to the juices I made for week 2 next week.
Let's talk about week 1......Water!! So, I am not a huge water drinker so I know doing 7 days of my fast on just water and tea was beneficial to me. The first day was not too bad at all, and I probably drank the most water on this day. I did actually leave the house on my first day but it was a quick trip to the store because as you could imagine I was going to the bathroom quite a bit! On day 1 I felt as if I was flying on a purple cloud most of the day....I like to call it the "Detox Buzz" which makes you feel kinda high and tingly. Day 2 and 3 were more difficult as the buzz wore off and the actual detoxification started. By day 5 I was feeling like I had things under control, I was sleeping good and up very early by my standards (I normally don't wake up until 10am) at 7am every day!!! I did notice my water intake had decreased by the 5th day and I had to remind myself to drink water because my hunger cravings were very minimal. I finished off week 1 pretty good except my main concern was having a bowel movement. When you are fasting your body wants to hold on to what ever it has inside because it thinks it is starving. My boss who is a vegan and mostly a raw vegan suggested that I try Smooth Move Tea. All it took was one cup to get things "moving" Ha! Ha!
Along with plain water I also added some infused waters during week 1. My typical day went something like this:
*Wake up: 20 ounces room temperature water ( I keep this next to my bed and drink it immediately upon waking)
*Detox Tea with one half of fresh squeezed lemon
*Lunch Time 20 ounces Infused water
*After this I drank 8 to 10 ounces of either infused or plain water every 2 hours.
Here are some of my infused water recipes:
Day 1: I drank a pitcher of water infused with lemons and limes to get the detox process started.
Day 2 and 3: I drank this infused water for two days, your fruit will typically last for three refills of your container over two days.
3/4 large cucumber
Day 4 and 5:
2 small green apples
3/4 large cucumber
5-6 mint leaves (crushed slightly to release flavor)
Day 6 and 7:
Handful of cranberries (crushed slighlty)
Handful of blueberries (crushed slightly)
