I love to cook, I love to eat, I love all things purple and I just happen to be vegan!
![]() I am so bad......I have been away for awhile doing a several different challenges one of which was the Vegan Fitness Challenge. I did the Vegan Fitness Challenge 4 times last year and I was very happy with my results (I will share my results in another post). After being so restrictive with my eating I have spent the last 3 1/2 months eating like crap.....you know what that means.....time to DETOX!! To start off my detox I am doing a 7 day juice fast. I didn't prepare ahead of time so my first juice of the day was compliments of The Juice Kitchen. I had the juice named Real Bucks which had kale, apple, lemon and lime. I was pretty tasty. ![]() I did make it to the grocery store this afternoon to get produce for my week long juice fast. Now you know I am pretty budget conscious so I wanted to share my grocery haul and the cost breakdown of my juice for today. I went to 2 stores today and got some pretty good deals, I think I am pretty much set for the week and I probably won't need to make any other trips to the store this week but we shall see. At store #1 (Cermak Fresh Market) I spent $18.32. Here is what I got: Ginger (small piece app. 3 inches) Kale (1 bunch) Collard Greens (1 bunch) Carrots (5 pounds) Pineapple (1) Fuji Apples (14= app. 6 pounds) Broccoli (1 bunch) Naval Oranges (4= app. 3 3/4 pounds) Pears (3= app. 1 1/2 pounds) Tomatoes (4= app. 1 1/2 pounds) ![]() At store #2 (Walmart) I spent $10.68. Here is what I got: Spring Water (2 gallons) Cucumbers (3) Celery (2 bunches) Limes (2) Lemons (6) My grand total spent was $29.00. I wanted to stay under $25 but I just had to have that pineapple, cucumbers and broccoli. I did manage to stay under $30 though which is still pretty good. ![]() My juice recipe for today consisted of carrots, apples and celery. Carrot Cocktail Yield:46 ounces
The cost of this juice was $3.45 and it yields about 46 ounces of juice which breaks down to about $.56 per cup.

Hi Kesha! Yes ma'am no solids at all! I drink between 75-85 ounces of juice a day along with 16-20 ounces of tea and a boatload of water (around 72-80 ounces) LOL. I drink more the first few days and towards the end I don't need as much to sustain.

My girlfriend is really a vegan health nut and I want to show her eating healthy is important to me also by supporting her detoxes... Is this one I can do when I come home?

Yes the 7 day juice cleanse is easier to do when you have support and an accountability partner. I am sure she will appreciate your effort in being healthy as well.
