I love to cook, I love to eat, I love all things purple and I just happen to be vegan!
![]() After fasting for a week I always feel like I can just keep on going, instead of continuing on juicing I an going to turn this into a 10 day detox and do the last 3 days eating raw vegan food. Days 6 and 7 were the weekend so I was running errands and doing grocery shopping so I kept it pretty simple. On Day 6 I just juiced a bunch of apples and carrots and drank about 32 ounces of apple-carrot juice along with water and tea. On Day 7 I juiced up most of what was left. So I am nearing the end of my juice fast and I am drinking less and less juice each day. I am not too concerned because I have done many detoxes before and this is normal for me. You need to listen to what your body is telling you. Fasting helps to recondition your body to know intuitively what it needs, which will help you greatly going forward. Most people don't eat intuitively and that is what usually leads to poor food choices and mindless eating, and I personally am no stranger to both. The juice I made today was the only juice I had, I drank mostly water and tea most of the day.

Today I have been silently counting the days until my fast is over. It should be smooth sailing from here right? Not really....most of the week I stayed pretty close to home but today I had a long day of teaching so I did have some struggles throughout the day. Struggle #1: One of the nice ladies at the shop brought in some veggie chips for me today because she usually brings snacks and she wanted to bring something vegan friendly for me. I felt bad because I had o tun them down because I am on a fast. Struggle #2: The owner of the shop where I teach ordered pizzas and said she specifically got a veggie pizza with no cheese and dairy-free crust just for me. Once the pizza arrived and all the others were eating I was sitting there smelling pizza while drinking a green juice. Struggle #3: I had to give my second class more attention so I was unable to drink my second juice until class was over. So I had a juice at around 12:30pm and didn't have another one until 9:30pm. My energy was so zapped by the time I got home that I was too tired to make more juice tonight and I was too tired to write this post (It almost didn't get done LOL). When on a juice fast it is very important to be prepared and to make sure you fuel your body with enough nutrients to function. I only had about 56 ounce of juice today which was not enough to sustain me, while I don't feel bad I am very tired. Tomorrow I will probably be juicing everything that I have left so that I am prepared for the weekend. I will catch you all tomorrow. ![]() Good N' Green Yield app. 28 ounces

![]() The first couple days are always the hardest because it's mostly mind over matter when it comes to hunger pangs. The feeling is very much real but you have to remind yourself that you won't die and as long as you are juicing you are getting nutrition. This morning I was up with the birds and I am no morning person by any means, it just so happens that a side effect of fasting is what seems like an endless amount of energy. What you must realize is that when you are eating solid, cooked foods your body has to breakdown that food in order for your body to process it; which is why people get sleepy after they eat because your body is working on digesting. When you are on a fast of any kind be it juice, water, soups or smoothies; your body doesn't have to work as hard because what you are ingesting is already broken down enough so all you body has to do is use the nutrients. What does all this mean? It means that extra energy you have is due to your body working less. So you will more than likely be up later and wake up earlier "bright eyed and bushy tailed". I start everyday basically the same.....at least 16 ounces of water, 8 ounces of caffeine free tea with 1/2 lemon squeezed in it and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (I will have a separate post about the benefits of ACV). Today I had some running around to do so I only had about 64 ounces of juice today along with several cups of tea and water. Crazy Carrots Yields app. 40 ounces

As I sit here typing this post I am drinking what will probably be the last thing I drink this evening because I don't want to wake up several times during the night to pee (LOL). One obvious thing about doing a liquid fast is that there are plenty trips to the toilet which is natural of course because you are eliminating toxins from your body. When doing a detox you can expect to eliminate toxins, they will secrete through the pores in your skin as well as through your bowels and urine. Today I woke up and immediately drank 16 ounces of room temperature water and had a cup of caffeine-free tea with 1/2 of lemon squeezed in it. I usually drink water for the next couple hours, I am not a huge breakfast person so I usually hold out until lunchtime for my first juice of the day. ![]() My first juice today was 28 ounces of green juice. I only drank about 1/2 of it in a sitting and ended up drinking the rest about 2 hours later. Drink Your Greens Yields app. 28 ounces
![]() I didn't move around much today since I was working on a project at home so I didn't need a lot of juice to sustain my energy level. My energy never waned throughout the day. Today I ended up drinking about 88 ounces of juice. I also left the house later in the evening to go get a shot of wheatgrass. My next juice today was a bit lighter than my first juice since it had a bit more fruit then veggies. Afternoon Delight Yields app. 32 ounces
The last juice I had for today was very veggie rich. If you are new to juicing you may want to add more fruit. I don't like things really sweet so this juice was fine to me just as it was. It was a very dark, rich green juice where collard greens were the star. Collards are rich in calcium and Vitamin K. Green Madness
